The UVic Psi Chi Chapter Presents
Making Waves 2017
An Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference
April 6th and 7th, 2017
Haro Room, Cadboro Commons, University of Victoria
The UVic Psi Chi: Making Waves Conference was founded by the University of Victoria Psi Chi Chapter in the 2014/2015 academic year. The aims of the conference are to encourage and support undergraduate student research and professional growth in the field of psychology in the western United States of America and Canada, as well as promote Psi Chi in this region. These goals are fulfilled through networking opportunities amongst students and UVic faculty and presentations of student research.
This year, PSOVIPS, the Psychology Students of Vancouver Island Poster Session, has become two events. One UVic Honours-specific poster session, and one open poster session for all other non-honours posters and students from other universities. Both events allow Vancouver Island students an opportunity to share their work in undergraduate psychology research. We are proud to host this Grand Finale Open House event showcasing cutting-edge research projects of UVic students and that of other senior Vancouver Island undergraduate students.
All undergraduate students conducting research in psychology-related fields in Western Canada and the United States of America are encouraged to apply. If you are doing work in another discipline, but it relates to research topics of psychology, we encourage you to apply. Examples of these research topics include mental health, decision-making, computational modelling of neural networks/behaviour, educational psychology, neuroscience, and consumer psychology. We aim to have a diversity of research presented and discussed as this will broaden our current understanding of psychology-related topics and allow for synthesis across disciplines. This conference is free to attend, with an additional cost for attending the banquet.
